Sooners Receiver Goes Wild

Oklahoma's 22 current commitments have almost entirely started their 2017 season's and now it's time to review their performances from the weekend. Not surprisingly there were a number of big wins, including several Sooners getting big wins against opponents from outside of state lines.

See how took home the MVP in week one of the regular season.

The Skinny: Lancaster, and particularly Austin's defensive group, had a rocky start to the season surrendering 546-yards, including 313-yards through the air. Austin himself had an interception that was negated by a teammate's pass interference but Lancaster fell 57-40 to Denton Ryan and Oklahoma State quarterback commit Spencer Sanders.

Next Week: Lancaster (0-1) is traveling to South Oak Cliff on Sat., Sept. 2.

The Skinny: Due to Hurricane Harvey Cy-Falls hasn't started their season yet.

The Skinny: On offense Carter had a couple of nice carries and at cornerback played a huge role in shutting down a talented Colleyville Heritage offense as Aledo downed Heritage 38-21 in a game that looks closer than it was.

Next Week: Aledo (1-0) is hosting Aguilas Blancas IPN of Mexico City, Mexico.

The Skinny: Rockdale hasn't started their season yet but Crawford has already suffered an injury and will miss, at least, a large portion of his senior season.

Next Week: Rockdale (0-0) is hosting Taylor.

The Skinny: Deerfield Beach, started the week finding out that they are the new No. 1 in Florida's class 8A. The end of the week wasn't quite as strong as a trip to New Jersey was ruined by a 44-21 loss to Jersey powerhouse St. Joseph's. In spite of all of the points for St. Joe's, Edwards helped a defense that permitted less than 300-yards of offense.

Next Week: Deerfield Beach (1-1) is traveling to Pompano Beach Blanche Ely on Sat., Sept. 9.

The Skinny: Another week another big win over a high-quality opponent as Union beat up Texas powerhouse Euless Trinity 38-7. Fields had another steady game that included six tackles, including one for loss.

Next Week: Union (2-0) is meeting Jenks at Skelly stadium on Thu., Sept. 7.

The Skinny: Due to Hurricane Harvey Brenham hasn't started their season yet.

Next Week: Brenham (0-0) is hosting Elgin.

The Skinny: Kelley had a big hand, with five tackles, a tackle for loss, and a forced fumble, in slowing down one of Texas's most physical teams and helping the Redskins largely shut down Euless Trinity 38-7.

Next Week: Union (2-0) is meeting Jenks at Tulsa's Skelly stadium on Thu., Sept. 7.

The Skinny: McLellan was well on his way to a 200-yard game before injuring his wrist. Still he finished with 136-yards rushing and a pair of touchdowns in Aledo's 38-21 win over Colleyville Heritage.

Next Week: Aledo (1-0) is hosting Aguilas Blancas IPN of Mexico City, Mexico.

The Skinny: Independence got back on the right track with a 30-16 win over Fort Scott C.C.

Next Week: Independence C.C. (1-1) is hosting Garden City C.C. on Sat., Sept. 9.

The Skinny: Mordecai went 12-27 for 199-yards and and two touchdowns in Midway's 35-28 win over Cedar Park.

Next Week: Midway (1-0) is hosting Round Rock Cedar Ridge

The Skinny: IMG got another win over a national top 10 opponent downing Corona (Calif.) Centennial 40-20. The game was tighter than the score appeared and Pledger had the Ascenders first two catches of the night.

Next Week: IMG (2-0) is hosting Baltimore St. Frances.

The Skinny: Against one of Arizona's perennial powerhouses Rattler and Pinnacle forced overtime, with two fourth quarter touchdowns but it wasn't enough as a fumble at the goal line, that would have forced a second overtime, ended the game at 35-28. He had 192-yards passing and a pair of touchdown tosses.

Next Week: Pinnacle (2-1) is hosting Mesa Mountain View.

The Skinny: Redmond kept the huge start to his season rolling with four sacks but it wasn't quite enough as the Bombers fell to rival Booker T. 27-24.

Next Week: Midwest City (1-1) is hosting Del City.

The Skinny: Robinson wasted no time getting his senior season off to a huge start with a 10-reception 188-yard and five touchdown (39, 13, 26, 21, 23) performance as All Saints downed Prestonwood Christian 61-50.

Next Week: All Saints (1-0) is traveling to Addison Trinity Christian

The Skinny: Simpson helped pave the way for an offense that put up 440-yards of total offense, including 202-yards on the ground in Northwest's 35-20 win over Alvarado.

Next Week: Northwest (1-0) is hosting McKinney North.

The Skinny: Prestonwood fell 61-50 but Stogner has just been cleared to return so he sat out. He should be back in very short order.

Next Week: Prestonwood (0-1) is hosting Houston Episcopal.

The Skinny: Putnam City got off to a strong start with a win over rival Putnam City North 16-10 on Thursday night. On the night Tatum had 11 tackles and a sack.

Next Week: Putnam City (1-0) is traveling to Putnam City North on Thurs., Aug. 31.

The Skinny: Due to a hamstring injury Taylor sat out for the second straight week and had to watch as his Ridgeway team fell 28-20 to Kirby.

Next Week: Ridgeway (0-3) is traveling to Little Rock (Ark.) Pulaski Academy

The Skinny: Dunbar got back on track in week two with a 32-0 thrashing of Ponitz Career Tech. Thomas had 260-yards rushing and three touchdowns (74, 5, 2).

The Skinny: Westmoore got things rolling with a demolition of rival Moore 50-18 with an offense that was dominant enough to over come almost 170-yards in penalties.
