Sooners Set to Host Stars from All over the Country

Every year it seems that Oklahoma's junior day becomes a slightly bigger event but in 2015 it seems the event has grown a bit even from one month to the next. Following a solid junior day in mid-February the Sooners are set to host their second junior day on Saturday and look likely to bring in a number of players who either already hold an offer or soon could.
Not surprisingly the junior day will be full of Big 12 region prospects but what is surprising is the mass number of Californians who will make their way to Norman this weekend.

Perhaps most interesting is the expected presence of several prospects committed to other programs. Notably Rivals250 UCLA commitment Michael Pittman and Rivals250 Cal commitment Marquel Dismuke, along with Boise State cornerback commitment Isaiah Hayes.
The trio lead a bevy of talented perimeter players that include Pittman, the son of the former long-time Arizona Cardinals running back of the same name, as well as 2017 emerging star Keyshawn Johnson Jr.. Though the Sooners will hope to show Johnson just how possible it is for him to get 'the damn ball' none of the mentioned players seem likely to to come to any type of decision.
However, each mentioned, along with Darnay Holmes Khalil Tate, and Terrell Bynum all seem like possible offers at some point after they arrive.
Interestingly Bynum, Dismuke, Holmes, Pittman Jr. , and Tate all hold offers from Washington State and most have discussed their connection, to varying degrees, to former Cougars, and current Sooner, wide receiver coach Dennis Simmons.
Staying Near Home
As mentioned it's not all about California this weekend as the Sooners are expected to host no less than nine players from Texas and Louisiana that hold Oklahoma scholarship offers.
One might expect the numbers to work in the Bayou state's favor, however it's closer than you'd expect with four Louisiana natives with offers expected. Those players, as highlighted in the site's ongoing list, Pernell Jefferson and Shreveport Calvary Academy teammates Chanse Sylvie, Andraez Williams and Rodarius Williams.
The Williams brothers were offered since Oklahoma's first junior day but they will be venturing to Norman with Sylvie who will be making it a clean sweep of Sooners class of 2016 junior day events.
The final piece of the Louisiana quartet, Jefferson, may not be coming with a teammate but has interested in continuing to play with one and could do so in Norman with linebacker and New Orleans Warren Easton teammate Arthur McGinnis signing with the Sooners last month.
Texas' presence at Oklahoma's junior day is an annual event but for a variety of reasons Oklahoma's expected Lone Star visitors who already hold an offer could be key to their 2016 efforts.
The starting point is certainly North Mesquite offensive tackle, and Oklahoma's first 2016 commitment, Jean Delance. Since committing to the Sooners, a school he has said before were his childhood favorite, he has picked up one offer after another including recent offers from Texas and Texas A&M. These offers have had many wondering how long Oklahoma might hang onto his pledge and this weekend will go a long way toward answering that question.
Fellow class of 2016 standouts with impressive offer lists who are expected in Norman this weekend are Aldine MacArthur Rivals250 defensive end Isaiah Chambers, Rivals250 linebacker Dontavious Jackson of Alief Elsik and national record setting former Baylor commitment Tren'Davian Dickson of Navasota.
Chambers will have his first chance to be around new outside linebackers coach Mike Stoops and new defensive line coach Diron Reynolds and as such the visit is key in it's presentation of a chance to make a first impression.
For Jackson the story is very different with the 6-foot-2, 238-pound inside linebacker who has made it clear he has a very strong relationship with Sooners assistant Tim Kish, perhaps the strongest of any coach recruiting him. Can Oklahoma start to lay the groundwork for a future commitment?
Finally is Dickson, who put together a historic season of 90-receptions for 2,163-yards and 39 touchdowns, on the way to a state title for the Rattlers. Little is known about his interest in Oklahoma but it's a huge chance for the duo of Cale Gundy and Simmons to try and work some magic at receiver.
State Pride
With all of the talent from outside it's own borders there are only two expected visitors from the Sooner state and each is a very intriguing possibility.
Broken Arrow offensive lineman Rowdy Frederick, who already holds a Tulsa offer, will get plenty of attention through the spring if he can show he has returned from some nagging injuries and health concerns that kept him largely out of action as a junior. If that happens Frederick's offer list could blow up but the lifelong Sooner fan would like for Oklahoma to get it on the ground floor.
On the flip side is under appreciated Mustang quarterback Chandler Garrett who was invited to the event by new offensive coordinator Lincoln Riley on Tuesday evening. Garrett is a strong-armed quarterback with more athleticism than he usually gets credit for.
Both players could end up as part of Oklahoma's class, and almost certainly will should the Sooners elect to offer, but obviously will be getting there while coming from different directions.
