TEs Decision a Surprise, How it Happened Wasnt

Few players have kept a tighter lid on their recruitment than North Royalton (Ohio) St. Edward three-star tight end Sam Grant. So it probably should come as no surprise that when he finally made his choice between Oklahoma and Michigan, there was no pomp and circumstance, no television cameras, not even a single reporter was on hand.
The 6-foot-6, 240-pound prospect from one of Ohio's premier programs simply called the coaching staffs and let them know of their choice.

Fortunately for the Sooners, that choice was to be in Norman.
"My understanding is that he made the decision yesterday to attend Oklahoma," St. Edward athletic director Paul Michalko confirmed.
Grant, a long-time Boston College commitment, re-opened his recruiting to take an official visit to Michigan on Dec. 9 and followed the trip up the next weekend with a visit to Arkansas.
At roughly the same time, Oklahoma tight ends coach Bruce Kittle got in touch with Grant and extended an offer along with an opportunity to visit Norman - a trip he took on Jan. 6.
Since then, Grant has said little publicly about his choice and his only known trip was an unofficial visit to Michigan, where most thought he would join his five-star teammate Kyle Kalis. However, it seems that the efforts of Kittle and Bob Stoops during an in-home visit last Tuesday swung the tide for the Sooners.
