Matt Luke is now in charge of Ole Miss' football program, as Hugh Freeze resigned from the position on Thursday. Luke addressed the team that day, and the players continued offseason work on Friday morning.

With preseason camp closing in, the change brings another layer to a season that won't end with a bowl game. Luke is a familiar face, and former Ole Miss defender CJ Johnson told RebelGrove.com Luke should be a stabilizing presence for the Rebels.

"At a time like this who is better for the job," said Johnson, who is now on the staff at Florida Atlantic. "This man has three generations of ties to Ole Miss. He will hold them together. He has energy and that will help."

Current players and former players also took to social media in the past hours. Here's a sampling of those messages.
