Walker Impressed by Sooners Bounce Back

For months offers have rolled in for Moore (Okla.) Southmoore sophomore offensive tackle Brey Walker but among the very first was from his neighbors in Norman, Oklahoma. The 6-foot-6, 320-pound offensive tackle is young and still learning the process of recruitment but on Saturday night, following Oklahoma's lopsided Bedlam win he couldn't help but make a decision.
And while the Bedlam win may have been the tipping point it wasn't where everything started for Walker.

"It was basically the way they bounced back from that Texas game. I didn't think they were going to come back, I thought they were going to just ball up and they didn't so they came out to be Big 12 champions and I was impressed with them," Walker said.
"I think it was the best time for me to commit, early."
Walker, who says he grew up an Oklahoma fan, got in touch with Bill Bedenbaugh following the game to let him know of his decision. Not surprisingly, Bedenbaugh was quite excited about landing a commitment from the earliest in-state offer on record.
"I called coach B, he was excited that I was committing and said that it made his night even better," he said.
Walker hadn't always planned to make his decision at such an early point but with Oklahoma's success and the chaos that his recruiting was starting to become he felt like the chance to move early on his choice could be best for him.
"I just knew that was the best for me, to go ahead and commit," he said.
Walker is still taking recruiting in stride and will be careful how he navigates things going forward but says that 'I'm going to stick with OU' in regards to his future plans.
For now though he'll simply watch the Sooners and continue to watch their pair of bookend freshman tackles, Orlando Brown and Dru Samia.
"I watch their line, I watch both sides, how they play, they are both really aggressive," Walker, a talented wrestler, noted.
