Wyatt leaving OU
Darrell Wyatt is leaving the University of Oklahoma to take a job as the wide receivers coach for the Minnesota Vikings. The Soooners must now replace one of the top assistant coaches in the country and one of the very best recruiters in college football.
Wyatt joined the Oklahoma staff in 2002 and helped develop one of the top wide receiver units in college football.

Wyatt built a reputation as a developer of receivers and a hard-nosed recruiter at Wyoming, Kansas and Oklahoma State before arriving at OU.
But once in Norman his national reputation took off even further under the bright lights of the national stage. Wyatt was responsible for developing three receivers (Clayton, Mark Bradley and Brandon Jones) who were all taken in the first three rounds of the 2005 NFL draft.
As a recruiter, Wyatt helped lure big-name recruits to Norman such as Tommie Harris, Adrian Peterson and Malcolm Kelly along with several others.
The Sooners must now replace one of their best assistants.
Kevin Sumlin is the logical choice to replace Wyatt as passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach. Sumlin came to Oklahoma in 2003 after being hired by Colorado as their receivers coach following a brief stint as the Texas A&M offensive coordinator/wide receivers coach under R.C. Slocum.
Sumlin started his coaching career in 1991 as the receivers coach for Wyoming.
Should the Sooners elevate Sumlin into Wyatt's former role, the Sooners will still have to hire another offensive coach to complete Bob Stoops' staff.
Wyatt could not be reached for comment Thursday afternoon.
