After Oklahoma blanked both Hofstra and Baylor on Saturday, the Sooners again matched up with both teams Sunday in the second day of the Getterman Classic.
There were again no issues for Patty Gasso's squad. The Sooners opened the day with an 11-3 run-rule victory over Hofstra before shutting out No. 23 Baylor 8-0 in five innings. Over the course of the two days, the No. 3-ranked Sooners outscored Hofstra and Baylor 36-4 across the four games.
The Sooners improved to 10-0 on the season and now have two ranked wins under their belt.
The Sooners again got some standout performances both offensively and in the circle. Here's a recap of how things played out on Sunday:
SOONERS 11, HOFSTRA 3
Paytn Monticelli made her first start of the season — and her second start of her career — against Hofstra. But the junior struggled to start the game, allowing two runs in the top of the first. Monticelli allowed three earned runs, including a second-inning home run, and two hits while striking out three batters before she was relieved by Audrey Lowry, who came into the game with the Sooners leading 4-3.
The true freshman was fantastic in relief. She delivered eight strikeouts, zero hits and zero walks in 3.2 innings, while allowing just one base runner on a wild pitch.
Lowry's performance out of the bull pen and the offensive explosion proved more than enough for the win.
The Sooners got things started with an RBI double from Ella Parker in the bottom of the frame, then added three more runs before the second. Parker added yet another RBI double in the second inning, and Cydney Sanders notched an RBI double in the fourth inning to extend the lead.
Tia Milloy delivered the knockout blow in the fifth inning with a solo home run, which secured the run rule. The true freshman already has three home runs this season, which ties Sydney Barker and Parker for the team lead.
Notable lineup decisions: Barker got the start at short stop, Ailana Agabayni was at second, Gabbie Garcia was the designated player and Parker started in right field.
Oklahoma 8, Baylor 0
Sam Landry made it clear that the 23rd-ranked Bears weren't generating any offense. The veteran pitcher finished with a perfect outing, throwing eight strikeouts while retiring all 15 batters in five innings.
That pitching performance, again, made things easy for the offense.
Nelly McEnroe-Marinas got things started with an RBI single in the top of the first before Barker added an RBI double that scored both Kasidi Pickering and McEnroe-Marinas, giving the Sooners an early 3-0 lead.
Agbayani followed that up with her first home run of the season in the third inning, a three-run blast to push the lead to 6-0.
Pickering followed that with an RBI double in the fifth inning, and McEnroe-Marinas brought the game home with an RBI single.
Up next: The Sooners make their home debut for the Norman Tournament with a 1:30 p.m. game against Abilene Christian on Thursday.
