Oklahoma earned the commitment from the nation's No. 122 overall player in Lawrence (Kan.) strongside defensive end Amani Bledsoe on Thursday.
The 6-foot-5, 272-pound defender has terrific size and strength to hold up on the edge in the three-man front the Sooners utilize. While not the quickest off the ball, Bledsoe is so explosive that he can easily compensate by overwhelming offensive linemen in tight spaces.
That explosion, paired with a great set of strong hands, allows him to consistently win the point of attack. Bledsoe also possesses a myriad of moves unlike many athletes his age still learning the position.
A lot of kids with elite size and reputation will relax when faced with constant double and triple teams - not Bledsoe. He's willing to fight through them and still find a way to make a play due to his high motor, size, and strength.
Having that kind of frame and length also makes Bledsoe a weapon against short-drop, quick-throw offenses due to his ability to diagnose plays quickly and bat down passes at the line of scrimmage.
Ultimately, this is a high-quality prospect the Sooners and Diron Reynolds are receiving along the defensive line. Not only is Bledsoe a perfect fit for the Oklahome three-man front, he also possesses an elite skill-set to excel in almost any defense.
