Future Sooners: A New Role

One of the stories for Oklahoma's 2017 and 2018 recruiting classes so far in their own season has been their ability to play a role on multiple sides of the ball. This week was no different as the week four MVP was one of the Sooners future defensive backs who made big plays in a big-time game for his program that is attempting to contend for it's first state championship in his lifetime.

The Skinny: Austin and the Tigers got a nice win over Mansfield Lake Ridge, 54-38 in spite of Lake Ridge finding some success through the air.

Next Week: Lancaster (2-1) is traveling to Mansfield Legacy on Thursday, Sept. 22.

The Skinny: Carroll had the week off.

Next Week: Carroll (2-1) is traveling to Flower Mound.

The Skinny: In a matchup of two teams in the Oklahoma's 3A top 10 Broiles and his Bears rolled over No. 3 Sulphur, 51-21. On the night Broiles had four catches for 173-yards and a touchdown.

The Skinny: Union had the week off.

Next Week: Union (2-1) is hosting Edmond North.

The Skinny: Calcaterra kept his big season going with five receptions for 58-yards in his team's 49-8 win over Westlake. For the first time he also got in the act on the ground with a 23-yard touchdown run on his only carry.

Next Week: Catholic (3-1) is traveling to Riverside King on Thurs., Sept. 22.

The Skinny: Collinsville had the week off.

Next Week: Collinsville (2-1) is hosting Bishop Kelley.

The Skinny: Gumbs and Stellar Prep came up short, 31-22, against Nampa (Idaho) Christian. On the night Gumbs had multiple tackles for loss and in the second half, after Gumbs had been moved to middle linebacker, Nampa was held scoreless.

Next Week: Stellar Prep (2-2) is traveling to El Cajon Christian.

The Skinny: Hall had a big night with five catches for 89-yards through the air to go along with a rushing touchdown as his fast-rising Vance team crushed former North Carolina powerhouse Charlotte Independence 52-14.

Next Week: Vance (5-0) has the week off.

The Skinny: Hayes and Pattonville finally got back on the winning track downing Webster Groves 27-19.

Next Week: Pattonville (1-3) is hosting Webster Groves.

The Skinny: Shawnee had a tough night against one of the state's premier programs, Tulsa Booker T. Washington, 43-6.

Next Week: Shawnee (1-2) is traveling to Tulsa East Central.

The Skinny: Lamb set a school record at Foster with 14 receptions, with that record he put up 163-yards and two touchdowns (10, 61) in Foster's 42-14 over Tomball. He also had a more than 70-yard kickoff return for touchdown that was called back on holding.

Next Week: Foster (4-0) is traveling to Victoria West.

The Skinny: Canyon got their first win of the season over San Antonio Wagner, 29-15. On the night he contributed plenty with seven kickoffs and three touchbacks, six punts for an average of 34.5 yards per kick with four of the six dropped inside the 20, one extra point and a pair of field goals, including a long of 47. He also had a two-point conversion for the Cougars.

Next Week: Canyon (1-3) is traveling to New Braunfels on Thurs., Sept. 22.

The Skinny: Elkins had the week off.

Next Week: Elkins (0-3) is traveling to Santa Fe.

The Skinny: Cedar Hill had the week off.

Next Week: Cedar Hill (2-1) is hosting Desoto.

The Skinny: Another night, another big performance for Reagor and his Waxahachie teammates as they downed Mansfield Summit 41-17. Reagor had eight catches for 123-yards but had his two scores on a pair of four-yard runs.

Next Week: Waxahachie (4-0) is hosting Red Oak.

The Skinny: Rising wasn't available and in turn his team suffered their first lost of the year in spite of a game effort from his replacement. Newbury Park fell to Valencia 56-35.

Next Week: Newbury Park (3-1) is hosting Venice.

The Skinny: Boyd had the week off.

Next Week: Boyd (0-3) is hosting Allen.

The Skinny: Robison only played the first half but had a solid return to the lineup with 12-for-18 for 165-yards and a 59-yard touchdown but it wasn't enough as Horn was downed by Longview 47-37.

Next Week: Horn (2-2) is hosting Mesquite.

The Skinny: Sermon and his Sprayberry teammates faced one of Georgia's best, Dalton, and though Sermon had a pair of 30-yard carries he finished with just 87-yards on 15-carries as Sprayberry fell 45-16.

Next Week: Sprayberry (3-1) is traveling to Dalton.

The Skinny: Sutton had a two-yard touchdown but wasn't heavily needed as his team dropped Hudson Valley C.C. 48-9.

Next Week: Lackawanna C.C. (3-0) is traveling to Nassay Community College on Saturday, Sept. 24.

The Skinny: Memorial had the week off.

Next Week: Memorial (2-0) is traveling to Pryor.

The Skinny: Southmoore got back on track in spite of a well-planned attack by Yukon. Walker and his offensive line helped lead the way to over 250-yards rushing on the ground in a 38-7 win over the Millers.

Next Week: Southmoore (2-1) is hosting Moore.
