Explosion, explosion, explosion.

Whether it’s coming up to make a tackle behind the line of scrimmage or high-pointing a jump ball away from a receiver, Miami (Fla.) Columbus 4-star cornerback, and Oklahoma's newest commitment, Trajan Bandy’s explosive athleticism makes him one of the top cornerbacks in the class of 2017.

Bandy isn’t part of the new wave of big, physical corners, but is a similar height to current Oklahoma cornerback Dakota Austin (5-foot-9/5-foot-10) with about 15 more pounds of muscle.

He can flip his hips and run with a receiver or square up to read the quarterback with great footwork and technique, as Bandy is a fluid athlete who maneuvers without much wasted motion. The Miami (Fla.) Columbus star does a great job constantly moving his feet, keeping his head up, and squaring up to the target, which all allow Bandy to not only be a natural tackler, but also a composed cover corner. The newest Sooner commitment just very rarely looks lost or out of position and seems to have a great feel for the game.

He may not be the biggest corner, he may not be the fastest in the 40, but Trajan Bandy is a highly explosive athlete in short spaces that plays with terrific awareness and composure. Not too dissimilar from an Oklahoma cornerback signee from the opposite coast in the class of 2016, Jordan Parker. Credit OU defensive backs coach Kerry Cooks for landing another nationally elite athlete from a fertile recruiting state.
