Though Kapri (cah-pre) Doucet held offers from Arizona, Arkansas, Iowa State, Louisville, and Missouri amongst many others there was always one school in particular he was hoping an offer would come from. It's the same school that his Scranton (Pa.) Lackawanna C.C. teammate Ashton Julious was signed with - Oklahoma.

So when the opportunity finally presented itself, Doucet felt like he had no doubt where he would end up.

"Yeah, I’ve known it was going to be OU for a while. It was my dream school I’ve always been a fan of Demarco Murray and Adrian Peterson and saw (Eric) Striker there. Just the resume that coach (Bob) Stoops has, it's unbelievable.

"I think it was a great situation for me going in, they came and offered me and I felt like it was the right situation for me academically and for football."

Part of what will make that situation more ideal is the presence of another teammate and friend, Sunday commitment Emmanuel Beal.

"That’s awesome, that’s an awesome feeling, getting to play with him still and we’ll be at Oklahoma," he said. "He was at Lackawanna before me, we played together this past season and were just all over the place and that’s how we got the name the ‘Looney Toons’ and how great we work together and how we played.

"Coach Bob Stoops told me that he likes me at the outside linebacker position and that I reminded him of Striker, coach Kish feels I can play more than one spot, he wants to work with me and see where he wants to put me."

Doucet may be starring as a linebacker for Lackawanna but says that his early days of high school football were at an entirely different position group.

"I was a cornerback, I was an All-American as a freshman and my junior and senior season I moved more to linebacker because of how our numbers were. Originally though I played cornerback," he said.

Thanks the massive storm that hit the East coast Doucet wasn't able to take his planned official visit to Norman last weekend, however he'll head to Norman this weekend and settle things. While on the visit he knows he'll be with several recruits still mulling over their decision and has thought about how he'll handle that one-on-one conversation.

"I’m going to go next Friday and see the coaches," he said. "I’m just going to tell them why I picked OU and why I think it's a great school. It’s Oklahoma, Oklahoma speaks for itself and so does Bob Stoops. Who wouldn’t want to play for them? They are always in the hunt for a national title.

"The program just speaks for himself, there is stability there."

Like many junior college products Doucet took a winding road to find his way to a major college proram.

"Coming out of high school I was supposed to go to James Madison. I didn’t qualify academically and JMU didn’t want to send me to a prep school, they wanted me to go to a school named Lackawanna," he said "A few years before a running back from my school, had gone there, I knew I had to go to JUCO. They said once I got my associates I they would sign me. So my first year there, I was a freshman with two sophomores in front of me and I came in on third down plays and pass rush. I was punting, I was doing kick and punt returns.

"I was playing a little bit of running back, my second year was when I got on the scene and had my breakout scene and then became the defensive player of the year, first team All American, and that’s when everything took off.

"That’s when I knew I wasn’t going to back to JMU."

The talented linebacker has three years of eligibility, including his redshirt year, but says that his plan is to try and help as early as possible.

"With the numbers and guys, I think it’s a high possibility I’m going to come in and play and compete for a starting spot. That is what my plan is."
