Future Sooners: A Ground Attack

After several weeks of those involved with the passing game - either those completing passes or stopping them - taking home top honors it was a member of the ground game that couldn't be slowed over this weekend. A few more Sooner commitments sat out this weekend with injuries while another made his full return to the lineup. Find out everything in the week four edition of 'Future Sooners'.

The Skinny: Austin was part of a Tigers secondary that helped hold Mansfield Legacy to just 126-yards passing and pull away for a 34-24 win.

Next Week: Lancaster (3-1) has the week off.

The Skinny: Barnes had slightly tweaked a hamstring and sat out the game but his Carroll teammates managed to shut down Flower Mound 42-7, on the night the Jaguars managed just 211-yards against the Dragons defense.

Next Week: Carroll (3-1) is hosting Euless Trinity.

The Skinny: John Marshall continued their strong early start by dismantling Marlow 45-20.

Next Week: John Marshall (3-1) is traveling to Capitol Hill.

The Skinny: Brown and his Union teammates got back on the winning track with a 51-0 demolition of Edmond North.

Next Week: Union (3-1) is traveling to Owasso.

The Skinny: Calcaterra was held out against an overmatched opponent and his teammates backed up that belief with a 44-14 demolition of Riverside King.

Next Week: Catholic (4-1) has the week off.

The Skinny: Draper's eight tackles and two tackles for loss weren't enough as his Collinsville defense had trouble stopping the run and were downed by Bishop Kelley 28-10.

Next Week: Collinsville (2-1) is hosting Tahlequah.

The Skinny: Stellar Prep had the week off.

The Skinny: Hayes and Pattonville got their second straight win downing Rockwood Summit 28-13. On the night Hayes had 'six or seven' pancake blocks.

Next Week: Pattonville (3-3) is hosting Florissant Hazelwood Central.

The Skinny: Shawnee dominated Tulsa East Central 54-27 as they got back on the winning track. On the night Humphrey had nine pancakes in just three quarters of work.

Next Week: Shawnee (2-2) is hosting McAlester.

The Skinny: Lamb just kept dominating with six receptions for 142-yards and two touchdowns in Foster's 56-0 demolition of Victoria West.

Next Week: Foster (5-0) has the week off.

The Skinny: Canyon came up just short against rival New Braunfels, 42-35. Mundschau did manage a pair of field goals, with a long of 30, going 3-3 on extra points. He also had five punts for an average of 43.4-yards per kick and two kicks inside the 20. He also had six kickoffs for an average of over 50-yards per kick and three touchbacks.

The Skinny: Elkins fought off a rough start to the season with a 41-10 win over Santa Fe and Murray kept rolling with 11 tackles (nine solo).

Next Week: Elkins (1-3) is hosting Galena Park.

The Skinny: In what was a rare tough night for the Longhorns Rambo was a lone bright spot with five receptions for 95-yards and two touchdowns (29, 27) but as mentioned it wasn't enough as Cedar Hill was downed 33-18 by fellow DFW powerhouse Desoto.

Next Week: Cedar Hill (2-2) is traveling to Duncanville.

The Skinny: Another night, another big performance for Reagor and his Waxahachie teammates as they downed Red Oak 42-14 while their star receiver had five receptions for 122-yards and two touchdowns (25, 47).

Next Week: Waxahachie (5-0) has the week off.

The Skinny: Rising wasn't available for the second game in a row but Newbury Park was able to get back on the winning track in a 28-0 win over Valencia.

Next Week: Newbury Park (4-1) is hosting Gardena.

The Skinny: Boyd's tough start to the season continued with an unenviable matchup with national powerhouse Allen. Robinson and the Broncos 69-17.

Next Week: Boyd (0-4) is traveling to Wylie.

The Skinny: Robison helped his team in a big win over district rivals Mesquite going 10-18 for 165-yards and a 57-yard touchdown as they downed the Skeeters 49-24.

Next Week: Horn (2-2) is hosting Tyler Lee.

The Skinny: Sermon and his Sprayberry teammates were facing a tough test without their starting quarterback on Friday night but the Yellow Jackets rode the back of their backfield star. Sermon had 253-yards rushing and four touchdowns (4, 4, 2, 5) on their way to a 34-14 win over South Cobb.

WEEK 4 MVP

Next Week: Sprayberry (4-1) has the week off.

The Skinny: Sutton did a bit of everything for Lackawanna with 17-carries for 114-yards and a reception for five-yards. All this was part of the Falcons 48-6 win over Nassau.

Next Week: Lackawanna C.C. (4-0) is traveling to Erie Community College on Saturday, Oct. 1.

The Skinny: Memorial had their first hiccup of the season falling to Pryor 32-0 though Thomas managed eight tackles on the night.

Next Week: Memorial (2-1) is hosting Claremore.

The Skinny: Southmoore got a win over district rival Moore, 49-20, on a night when the Sabercats offense rushed for 233-yards while falling just one yard shy of 500-yards total on offense.

Next Week: Southmoore (3-1) is traveling to Edmond North.
