There’s the second offensive lineman for Oklahoma’s 2020 class as the Sooners and offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh continue to put in the work on the recruiting trail.
Gilbert (Ariz.) Williams Field offensive tackle Noah Nelson announced his commitment to OU on Monday night, a week removed from his official visit to Norman.
Nelson, ranked No. 232 in the Rivals 250, has a bit of a unique story in terms of connection to OU. Nelson visited Norman originally during his spring break, spending multiple days during his vacation week.
In the last month, it has become apparent this was a two-team race between OU and Michigan. Nelson made his first official visit to Ann Arbor last month but had been consistent in saying he was going to return to OU during the first week of May.
“I feel like a lot of offensive line coaches, or people who recruit you in general, they sugarcoat things or don’t tell you 100-percent,” Nelson told SoonerScoop.com last week. “Whereas coach B has been the same person since I’ve met him and is just a super genuine guy. I really like that quality about him.”
Nelson is now the second offensive lineman to commit to OU during the month, joining Frisco (Texas) Reedy’s Nate Anderson. Coincidentally, Anderson was on an unofficial visit during Nelson’s official trip to campus.
The addition of Nelson gives OU eight commits for the 2020 class. Everybody knew April had to be a big month at defensive back, and the same was true here. Everybody knew it was time for Bedenbaugh to start cleaning up.
That’s two down now for the Sooners with OU in good position to land more.
